Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. rinse the mouth your child may be thinking of the last step. Point to the chain and say the steps in order: hands, then mouth, then face.

2. Zakah Read the circle aloud from Shahadah. Ask which pillar comes after Salah. That is Zakah, the giving of a share of wealth.

3. trustworthy Remind your child that Al-Amin was a name given to the Prophet ﷺ because people trusted him. Ask which word means that.

B

1. Allahu Akbar your child may have picked the phrase that comes later. Say: the Adhan begins with Allahu Akbar, so look at the first box.

C

1. Allah is the Greatest your child may have picked Come to prayer. Say: that phrase is Hayya alas-Salah. Allahu Akbar means Allah is the Greatest.

2. Come to prayer Ask your child what it feels like to be invited to something. Hayya alas-Salah is an invitation to come and pray.

3. a personal prayer your child may think a dua is a shout. Say: a dua is a prayer where we ask Allah for good things, in our own words.

4. Bilal ibn Rabah your child may have guessed a name they know. Say: Bilal ibn Rabah had the beautiful voice the Prophet ﷺ chose for this job.

D

1. Look for: Says Kit is wrong and that the Adhan is called five times every day, not only on Friday. If your child agrees with Kit, point to the claim and ask how many prayer times there are each day. Five times a day is the answer.

E

1. Look for: A reason such as so everyone can hear it and know it is time to pray.

Words to use

Say“Which word comes first in the Adhan? What does it mean?”
Instead of“Just read the words to them and move on.”

After the sheet

Take turns calling Allahu Akbar at the table, once softly and once a little louder. Then say one kind wish out loud together.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.
