Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. happy If your child picks angry or bored, ask: how do you feel when a friend helps you? Let them talk, then try again.

2. Look for: A word for checking on the person, such as ask, talk or listen. If your child writes the wrong word, point to Notice and Help. Ask what the friend should do between them.

3. Getting help

B

1. Look for: A kind action such as asking if he is okay, sitting with him, or inviting him to play. If your child writes nothing or something unkind, ask: what would help him? Then write it together.

C

1. their beliefs teach them to care If your child picks the prize, read the top line again. Ask: what makes many people care?

2. suffering

3. Yes, we can still care If your child picks the second, ask: would far-away families still need help? Talk about letters, cards or gifts.

4. everyone, even people we have never met If your child picks only family, ask: who visits the food bank? Talk about who is included.

D

1. Look for: Says Kit is wrong because caring and kindness are for everyone, including people we do not know. If your child agrees with Kit, ask: when you were new somewhere, did someone help you before they knew you?

E

1. Look for: A short story in which someone helps a person they do not know and gives a reason for helping.

Words to use

Say“Who might need care here, even if we do not know them yet?”
Instead of“That is right, well done. Now move on quickly.”

After the sheet

Make a care card for someone you have not met. You could choose a person in a local care home. Draw one picture and write one kind line. Post it or drop it off together.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.
