Holy Week, day by day · 2 minutes to read

Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. Christmas

2. white

3. Say a prayer

B

1. Last Supper

C

1. Palm Sunday your child may have picked Easter Sunday. Read the Watch me box together and ask on which day Jesus rode into Jerusalem.

2. Good Friday your child may have picked the Last Supper, the meal on Thursday. Ask on which day Jesus died on the cross.

3. Easter Sunday your child may have picked Good Friday, the day Jesus died. Ask on which day Christians believe Jesus rose again.

4. 1 Palm Sunday · 2 Last Supper · 3 Good Friday · 4 Easter Sunday your child may have put Easter Sunday first. Ask: which day does the story end with, and which day starts Holy Week?

D

1. Look for: Many churches hold services on several or every day of Holy Week, not just Easter Sunday. If your child repeats the claim, ask: on which days of Holy Week do churches hold services? Then ask whether that is only Easter Sunday.

E

1. Look for: The Last Supper is the meal before Jesus's death on Good Friday, so it comes first in the story.

Words to use

Say“Point to each day on the chain and tell me what Christians remember on that day.”
Instead of“Just tell them the order so they can copy it down.”

After the sheet

Write four days on paper strips: Palm Sunday, Last Supper, Good Friday, Easter Sunday. Mix them up, ask your child to put them in order, then say one thing about each.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.
