Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. Al-Muqit → The Sustainer; Al-Hasib → The Reckoner; Al-Mujib → The Answerer of Prayers If your child joins Al-Hasib to The Sustainer, two names got mixed up. Say each Name aloud with its meaning, then check again.

2. Constantinople If your child circles Baghdad, that was a great Abbasid city but not the one taken in 1453. Point to the year on the line and ask which city the Ottomans took.

3. Interest If your child circles Sadaqah, remind them that sadaqah is a free gift. Riba is a charge added to a loan, so the answer is interest.

B

1. 1 The self that commands evil (ammara) · 2 The self that blames itself (lawwama) · 3 The soul at peace (mutmainnah) If your child puts the soul at peace first, explain that it is the final stage. The journey starts with the self that pulls to wrong.

2. Nafs al-mutmainnah

C

1. Ilm → Allah knows all things before they happen; Kitabah → Everything is written down; Mashiah → Nothing happens without Allah's will; Khalq → Allah creates all things If your child joins Ilm to creating, they have mixed up knowledge and creation. Ilm is what Allah knows, and Khalq is what He makes.

2. Ilm If your child circles Kitabah, explain that Kitabah is the writing down. Here Allah knew it, and knowing is Ilm.

3. Nafs al-lawwama If your child circles ammara, explain that ammara is the self that pulls towards wrong. Lawwama is the self that feels sorry and turns back.

4. Riba (forbidden): Extra money added to a loan, Extra charge for late repayment · Honest trade (allowed): Selling goods at a price both agree on, Both sides agree to a fair sale If your child puts a fair sale under riba, ask whether any money was lent. Riba is extra charged on a loan, but a fair sale of goods is allowed.

D

1. Look for: Qadar includes human choice and effort, so effort still matters; the claim wrongly says effort does not matter. If your child agrees with Sam, remind them that Qadar sits alongside real choices. Ask what the nafs does when it chooses good or wrong.

E

1. Look for: Two topics joined by a clear reason, other than the Khadijah example, such as belief in Qadar shaping effort to purify the nafs.

Words to use

Say“Which topic came back to you first: Qadar, the nafs, Islamic history, fair trade or women in Islam? Tell me one link you noticed between two of them.”
Instead of“Just tell them the answers, or read the sheet aloud and mark it for them.”

After the sheet

Write five topic names on cards: Qadar, the nafs, Islamic history, fair trade and women in Islam. Hold up each card, say one fact from memory, then swap roles.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.

The rest of this unit

5 more sheets come with a StudyDen plan, in teaching order:
