Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. 622 Check which dot on the line is the blank. Ask your child to count along the line to that point.

2. Cave of Thawr Mount Uhud is a mountain near Madinah where a battle was fought, not a hiding place on the journey. Ask your child where the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr (RA) hid during the Hijrah.

3. Battle of Uhud The Opening of Makkah was in 630, after the treaty in 628. Ask your child which event sits to the left of the treaty on the line.

B

1. The peace helped many people hear about Islam If your child circles the battle card, remind them no battle was fought at Hudaybiyyah. The peace let people meet, so many heard about Islam.

2. Peace If your child circles A battle, read the story again. The two sides talked and signed a treaty, and no battle was fought.

C

1. Treaty → A formal written agreement; Quraysh → The tribe who controlled Makkah; Sabr → Patience and steadfastness; Surah Al-Fath → A surah about the treaty as a victory They may be guessing from the first letter. Ask your child to read each word aloud and say what it means in their own words.

2. Hard at first: Muslims had to go home without Umrah · Shown to be good later: Muslims could meet and talk freely, People heard about Islam, Muslims were seen as trustworthy If the peace cards are in the first box, ask your child what the peace allowed people to do.

3. 1 Muslims set out from Madinah to perform Umrah · 2 Quraysh stopped the Muslims at Hudaybiyyah · 3 Both sides talked through long negotiations · 4 A treaty was signed · 5 Surah Al-Fath was revealed about the treaty Surah Al-Fath came after the treaty, not before it. Ask your child which step happened first, then read the story again.

4. Look for: Mentions sabr or patience, and a right action such as trusting Allah, making dua, or doing what is right.

D

1. Look for: Says Allah called the treaty a clear victory, so a victory does not need a battle. They may think victory only means winning a fight. Ask your child what Allah called the treaty in the Quran.

E

1. Look for: Explains that peace lets people meet and talk freely, so more people hear about Islam.

Words to use

Say“Which part of this story felt hard at first, and how did it turn out in the end?”
Instead of“Just tell them the answer is that it was a victory, so they can move on quickly.”

After the sheet
