Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. Hijrah If they circle Hajj, that is the pilgrimage to Makkah, not the move to Madinah. Point to the middle box and ask what the journey between the two cities is called.

2. a trench If they circle a ship or a tower, ask whether you can dig one. Ask what the Muslims dug around Madinah.

3. 4 If they circle 2, they may be thinking of Fajr, which has 2 rakat. Ask which prayer is at midday, then count the rakat together.

B

1. Look for: Says Ali (RA) married Fatimah (RA), the Prophet's ﷺ daughter. If your child writes that he was a cousin, that is a different link. Ask who Ali (RA) married, and whose daughter she was.

C

1. Abu Bakr (RA) If they circle Ali (RA), remind them he was the fourth. Point to the first box and ask who came first.

2. Umar (RA)

3. Uthman (RA)

4. Ali (RA) If your child circles Uthman (RA), say he was also a son-in-law of the Prophet ﷺ, but not his cousin. Ask which Khalifah was both.

D

1. Abu Bakr (RA) If they circle Ali (RA), Kit's idea is still in their head. Being a close relative did not make Ali first. Point to the timeline: Abu Bakr (RA) began first.

E

1. Look for: Names brave, scholar or eloquent as a shared quality, with one example of it.

Words to use

Say“Who came first, and who came after? Point to the boxes in order.”
Instead of“Just tell them the names and move on without checking the order.”

After the sheet

Write the four Khalifah names on paper cards and lay them in order on the table. Ask who came fourth, then move the cards as you say each name.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.

The rest of this unit

5 more sheets come with a StudyDen plan, in teaching order:
