Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. Cave of Thawr your child may be thinking of a later battle. Ask: where did the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr (RA) hide for three days before going on?

2. generous your child may not know the word generous. Ask: what do we call someone who gives their own money to help others?

3. Hijrah → Journey to Madinah; Opening of Makkah → Return to Makkah peacefully; Farewell Hajj → Last big pilgrimage your child may have matched by the first word only. Ask what each event was about, then read the meaning again.

B

1. 10 If your child wrote 12, they probably used 634 instead of 632. Ask which year the Prophet ﷺ died, then subtract 622 from it.

C

1. Shura your child may have picked the word they heard most. Ask: what do Muslims do together to make an important decision?

2. Sakinah your child may have chosen a title. Ask: is this word about a person's name or a feeling of calm?

3. As-Siddiq your child may have confused the title with a word about peace. Ask: which title was given to Abu Bakr (RA) for believing at once?

4. Khalifah your child may be thinking of consultation. Ask: which word names the leader of the community after the Prophet ﷺ?

D

1. He believed at once your child may have mixed up the title with his job as Khalifah. Ask: what does As-Siddiq mean, and what did Abu Bakr (RA) do when the Prophet ﷺ told him news?

E

1. Look for: A chosen contribution (believing at once, courage in the cave, or the Quran collection) with a clear reason given.

Words to use

Say“Which of the three things do you think was most important, and why?”
Instead of“Tell them which answer is right before they have thought about it.”
