Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. Dhuhr your child may have picked Asr or Isha. Ask: what time is the clock showing, and which Salah is prayed at midday?

2. Asr

3. Maghrib

B

1. Look for: Followers listen quietly and attentively, in silence, while the Imam recites. your child may have written that followers recite along loudly. Remind them the Quran asks us to listen and be silent when it is recited.

C

1. Jama'ah → praying as a group; Imam → the prayer leader; Ruku' → bowing forward; Saff → a straight row

2. Imam: Leads the prayer, Stands at the front · Follower: Copies every movement, Stands in a straight row your child may have put a follower's job under Imam. Ask: who stands in front, and who copies the movements?

3. 1 The Imam stands at the front and the followers form straight rows. · 2 The Imam says Allahu Akbar to begin the prayer. · 3 The Imam bows in ruku'. · 4 Followers bow straight after him.

4. 27 your child may have picked a smaller number. Tell them the Prophet ﷺ said a prayer in Jama'ah is worth 27 times a prayer prayed alone.

D

1. Look for: Kit is wrong. Followers gently correct the Imam: men say Subhanallah and women clap once, so everyone shares responsibility. your child may have said the followers should stop and wait. Remind them that followers gently correct the Imam: men say Subhanallah and women clap once.

E

1. Look for: Two reasons such as equality before Allah, a wealthy person beside a poor person, unity, or moving as one body.

Words to use

Say“Who is leading, and who is following? Why does it matter that everyone stands in a straight row?”
Instead of“Just tell them the 27 times reward and move on.”

After the sheet

Set three cushions in a row on the living room floor. Ask one person to lead with slow movements, such as raising hands or bending forward, while the others copy exactly. Then swap who leads.
