Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. 30

2. 20

3. 15

B

1. 63 If your child writes 54, they may have counted only 6 nines. Count on one more nine from 54 to reach 63.

C

1. 27

2. 45

3. 54

4. 72

D

1. 54 If your child writes 15, they added 9 and 6. The product means multiply: 9 × 6 = 54, and 9 and 6 are the factors.

E

1. 27, 36, 45, 54 If your child writes 30, they may have counted in tens: 3 × 10 = 30. Count on in nines from 18 to check: 27, 36, 45, 54.

Words to use

Say“Which words are the starting numbers, and which word is the answer?”
Instead of“It's just the times table, so move on quickly.”

After the sheet

Lay out 4 rows of 9 socks or spoons, then say the factors and the product aloud.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.
