Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. 8

2. 14

3. 12

B

1. 50

C

1. 20 If your child writes 13, they have said ten and three. Counting in tens means adding ten each time.

2. 30 If your child writes 21, they counted on in ones. Jump by a whole ten each time.

3. 20

4. 30 If your child writes 39, they took away one. Take away a whole ten each time.

D

1. 20 If your child writes 13, they have said ten and three. 13 is a teen number, not a decade number. Ten and ten make 20. Point to 20 on the line.

E

1. 20, 30, 40 If your child writes 25 or 35, they counted on in tens from 15. Decade numbers end in 0. Find them on the strip.

Words to use

Say“Start on the number you are given and say the next ten.”
Instead of“Count every single number from one.”

After the sheet

Make piles of ten buttons or pasta pieces. Count the piles in tens: 10, 20, 30.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.
