2. 9

3. 4

B

1. 7

C

1. 4 If your child skips a number, point along the line and say each number again.

2. 6

3. 4 If your child writes 7, they counted forwards. Backwards goes down: 6, 5, then 4.

4. 6 If your child misses a number, count back again slowly with a finger on the line.

D

1. 6 If your child says 8, they counted forwards. Backwards means the numbers get smaller.

E

1. 7, 6, 5, 4 If your child misses one out, count back slowly from 8 and touch each number on the line.

Words to use

Say“Start the count from a different number and say it in order.”
Instead of“Count them all again from one every time.”

After the sheet

Line up 10 socks or spoons in a row. Say the numbers up to 10, then say them back down while touching each one.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.
