Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. 20 If your child writes 10, they changed the ones to 0 but kept 1 ten. After 19 comes a new ten, so 2 tens is 20.

2. 14

3. 29

B

1. sixties

C

1. 41

2. 43 If your child writes 34, they have swapped the digits. Count the bundles first: 4 tens is forty, then 3 more.

3. 46 If your child writes 10, they counted each bundle as one. Count the bundles in tens first: 10, 20, 30, 40, then 6 more.

4. 49

D

1. thirties If your child circles forties, point to the first number of the row. It starts at 31, so this row is the thirties.

E

1. 25 and 35 If your child writes 15, it ends in 5 but is not between 20 and 40. Check the number is in the twenties or thirties.

Words to use

Say“Which row are we in? Look at the ending of the number first.”
Instead of“Count all the way from 1 each time.”

After the sheet

Write the numbers 21 to 30 on scraps of paper and lay them in a row. Touch each one and say its ending aloud.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.
