Ola's kitchen scale has marks that go up in 50s. Which mark comes after 100 g?

Watch me

Find zero first, then count the marks.

Each mark goes up by 50 g: 0, 50, 100, 150, 200.

The mark after 100 is 150 g.

Answers, and what a wrong one tells you

A

1. 346

2. <

3. 85, 508, 580

B

1. 80 If your child writes 70, they added 10. Count the gaps between the marks. Each gap is 20 g, so the mark after 60 is 80.

C

1. 40

2. 60

3. 250

4. 300

D

1. 40 If your child writes 30, they counted in 10s. The gap from 0 to 20 is 20 g, so the next mark is 20 more.

E

1. Look for: Scale A’s bag is heavier because it shows 150 g and Scale B shows 120 g. If your child says Scale B because its arrow is past more marks, ask what each scale reads in grams. 150 g is more than 120 g.

Words to use

Say“Find the zero first, then count the gaps between the marks before you read the arrow.”
Instead of“It says 300 on the dial, so that is the answer.”

After the sheet

Weigh a book or a bag of pasta on kitchen scales. Read the marks, check the gap between them, then write the mass in grams.

Tick what your child got right in StudyDen. Anything missed comes back in a later Look back box, so there's no need to redo the sheet.
